No new pics, sorry

After yet another busy week at work I've had a great weekend. Yesterday I went to the the baby show at the excel centre. (Don't worry, I don't have anything to tell you. I went for my friend's birthday and she is pregnant)
It was good to have a chat with my mates and look at all the cute baby bits such as bibs and blankets and afterwards we had a lovely meal at Toby carvery.
I did aim to take a picture of my outfit which was a pastel ensemble from H&M but I was having a bad hair day and my skin is looking very pale so I will have to wear the outfit again soon and post a photo.

I have another long week at work ahead but I'm really looking forward to the London lunch on Saturday. I can't wait to meet my fellow bloggers and talk about clothes, shoes, bags and make-up. Very exciting!
The only problem is what to wear. I feel under pressure as I will be in the presence of some very stylish ladies and I don't get paid until the day before so I can forget shopping for something new.

Who else is going to the London lunch? Are you having the same dilemma as me?

Black N Yellow (with a bit of white)

I had to break out of my all black rut so as soon as I had the opportunity I reached for the mustard. This colour was big news last season and is still going strong under the umbrella of the popularity of yellow this season.
I bought my mustard tights from Next late last year and I teamed them with a tribal print dress which cost £12 from Primark. I love the fit and how comfortable it is. As it's still chilly I threw a mustard chunky knit from Primark over the top before I left the house.

Girly Girl

Girly Girl

I've just discovered Polyvore and love how you can create a moodboard of things that inspire you. I went for a pink and black girly theme but there are so many images to choose from.

Black is the new black

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. This is because I have been working as a receptionist in a dental practice for 3 weeks and I've barely had time to blog. I also haven't been wearing any exciting outfits as the dress code where I work involves wearing black. Don't get me wrong, black is a smart colour but wearing it everyday with very little to break it up is getting me down. As a creative person, I love colour, glitter and print and lots of it. I have been pushing the boundaries when I can with a brown shirt here and a glittery cardigan there but I feel so restricted and I can't express myself. One of the dentists is stricter than the other about the dress code so when he wasn't in yesterday I brightened my day with a turquoise dress from Primark! It really does put me in a better mood as when you constantly wear black every day feels like a funeral.

As for the weekends, I haven't been paid yet so I'm literally too skint to go anywhere other than round my boyfriends, although I may be able to stretch to Nando's this weekend. (My favourite)
I will gradually try to introduce colour and print into my working wardrobe and I'll let you know how I get on.
Doe anyone else have any work wardrobe woes?

Mellow Yellow

I'm really not a happy bunny today. I'm not a fan of snow and it's put a dampener on my plans. I usually spend the weekends with my boyfriend but I'm stuck at home without him and he won't drive in the snow. I could mess about getting trains but I'd have to come back home before dark and I don't know if it'll really be worth it.  I have lots of ironing to do tonight for the week ahead. The joys!

To brighten up my day I thought I'd blog about this sunny yellow dress with cut outs from asos. It has now been reduced to £18 but there are only selected sizes left. However, there are many similar styles on the website so why not have a look?

My Fashion Bugbears

I absolutely LOVE fashion, especially the high street's take on catwalk looks but there are some items that I will never wear either because they don't suit me or I just don't see the point in them. Here is a list of some of these items:

Cropped Jumpers/Cardigans
I can't stand jumpers or cardigans with cropped sleeves. They may look chic but the whole purpose of knits is to keep you warm so why defeat the object and end up with cold arms? The same goes for coats with cropped sleeves. Pointless. My practical side always wins on this issue.

Static Fabrics
Want to receive a painful shock to the fingertips every time you happen to touch something metal? Then static fabrics are for you. It's usually nylon or polyester, looks cheap and makes your hair look like you've rubbed a balloon on it.

Crop Tops
Unless you're lucky enough to have abs of steel, anyone over the age of 18 cannot get away with wearing a crop top. I want to hide my muffin top away from the world, not have it on display to put everyone off their dinner.

Bootcut Trousers
This style of trousers or jeans swamp my small frame and on the rare occasion when they fit me in the leg they actually make me look even shorter than I am. There's also something a bit nineties about them.

The majority of men's fashion
The One Direction/JLS/The Wanted look prevails for today's modern man. Don't want to look like a boyband member? Well unless you can afford designer your only other choice is the N Dubs/Jeremy Kyle look sponsored by your local sports shop. My older male family members love to moan about the state of men's fashion nowadays. It's usually how the arms and legs are way too tight and the crotch is too low. So, my message to the designers of men's high street clothes is please introduce some more classic style clothes that actually fit properly as my boyfriend's trousers definitely should NOT be tighter than mine.

Onesies
These are great for snuggling up in at HOME or if you are going through a fast food drive through but should NEVER be worn if you are leaving the house or car.

So what do you think? Do you agree or disagree and what are your fashion bugbears?
