Hot on the High St: River Island

Hot on the High St: River Island
There are so many lovely pieces in River Island at the moment so once I get paid I may treat myself to one of two of the above items. The green T-shirt will be perfect for a festival. Just need the weather to improve as this endless rain puts a huge dampener on my outfit options

With the constant downpours we have been having it's time for me to invest in a raincoat. The Green miu miu is a lottery win dream purchase but the Miss Selfridge number is far more attainable on my budget. Hurry up pay day!

Wardrobe Fresheners

Here are a couple of pieces to brighten up your day after the dismal weather we've been having.
I am really into printed shirts at the moment as they can been worn under blazers or cardigans to keep the chill at bay but still look summery and are a nod to the different print trends.

This charming tropical print shirt £15 from Select looks great with jeans and can been worn with shorts once it becomes warm enough to brave bare legs

I'm also a big fan of blazers and this neon peach cropped number ticks all the boxes. At only £15 from H&M you can't go wrong. It can be thrown over almost anything to bring it bang up to date

How to be a modern Fashionista

Fashion isn't about looking like you've just stepped off the catwalk or out of a magazine, it's about being individual and creative and interpreting the trends in your own way. It's not about stepping into a designer shop and purchasing a head to toe expensive outfit, It's about experimenting and looking in both the usual and unexpected places for your fashion finds. It's about mixing it up and combining many elements such as high street, vintage, designer, customised pieces, holiday finds, menswear, charity shop bargains, items you've had in your wardrobe for years, items borrowed from friends, the list goes on...

It has taken me a while to learn this however. When I used to work for an insurance company I would spend my entire wages every month without saving a penny. I would usually only buy clothes from Topshop, River Island, Zara and Gap with the odd Primark and New Look item thrown in teamed with a designer accessory that was a Christmas or birthday present. Nowadays, I'm saving a chunk of my salary so I have to be more careful with my spending. I'm always hunting for the best bargain and will look in many places before making that impulse buy.

What does fashion mean to you and where do you like to shop?

The Classics

Sometimes, rather than trying to be bang on trend, I like to go for a more timeless look. Saturday night was one of these occasions as I went to Stevenage for my cousin's 21st birthday party. As it's been a bit cold lately a blazer was a must and my trusty Zara metallic grey number did the job. My dress was a Miss Selfridge sale bargain at an unbelievable £7! You can't see that well from the picture but the dress is covered in tiny silver diamantes. Very pretty and girly which I love.

I accesorized with my Chanel bag which I bought with a rare bonus from my old job years ago and a Tiffany bracelet that my boyfriend bought me one Christmas. My feather earrings were £3.99 for 3 pairs from H&M

My coral lipstick is Rimmel's Coral Queen shade which is very wearable and flattering.

Together in Electric Dreams

I went to Reflex, the 80's bar last night for a friend's birthday so I decided to dress appropriately and go for a neon ensemble. My bodycon dress was bought from Primark FOUR years ago and I had only worn it once before last night. That's what I call trend recycling! Make sure you keep items you love because they will more than likely come back into fashion eventually.

As it's been so cold I had to wear black tights and I completed the look with my sequinned wedges from New Look as I can just about walk in them
