Marathon Day 2015

The tradition on Marathon Day in the area I grew up in is to go on a massive pub crawl. Usually I happily take part but as I can't drink this year and most of the local pubs were closed I watched some of the runners and had a catch up with some of my friends before heading to a pub after about 3 hours to have a pint of cola! I had a laugh and enjoyed the day but do wish I'd wrapped up warmer as I was freezing and lost feeling in my hands for a few hours

This picture was taken at around 3pm after most of the runners had passed and they started clearing up the roads. I love this fringed jacket from Zara (£39) as the fabric is so soft and feels like suede and I'm a sucker for a bit of fringing. The ripped jeans were from Urban Outfitters early last year, the bag and top are from Primark and the skater shoes were £15 from Linzi. Are there any marathon day traditions that you follow or is it just another day for you?

Stars & Stripes

Yesterday I had a much overdue haircut and finally got rid of those pesky split ends. The weather has become all unpredictable again so I thought I'd wear thin star print tights with a mini skirt, ballet pumps and long sleeved top from New Look

My blog posts have been a bit few and far between recently as I haven't really felt like myself for the past 3 weeks. hopefully things will improve soon and I'm determined to get my blogging mojo back!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Nothing says Spring like florals so this bright floral print blazer from primark (£13) is perfect for this time of year. It really livens up my plain top from Gap and jeggings from Uniqlo, making it look Spring worthy. I wore this outfit last night for a meal with some good friends which helped take my mind off things as I've been feeling pretty down lately

A bit of Lipstick also works wonders so I slicked on a bright pink shade by make up Revolution. My pot belly is highlighted in this picture and it's getting me down that I haven't been able to exercise since I've been ill so I've put on a stone in weight. I know I'm still small but I miss having the flat stomach that I worked so hard to get last summer and looks such as body con and crop tops are now out of the question!

Ship Shape

Living quite close to the Thames does have its benefits when Spring arrives as it's always nice to go for a riverside walk and it also makes a good backdrop for outfit photos. Please excuse my windswept hair!

I'm wearing one of my trusty Topshop tops with J Brand jeans from TK Maxx, Linzi skater shoes (£15) and a fringed jacket that I got from misguided about a year ago but they are all over the high street at the moment. My personalised necklace is from Punky Pins and my bag is a Topshop buy from last year

I'm trying to buy less clothes as I've got to a point now where I just have too many! (First world shopaholic problems) I'm also trying to save some money so I'm regularly adding items I no longer wear to Depop (check out my wares; @ChelseyPrentice)

I haven't felt too good this week and feel like I'm taking a few steps backward health wise but hopefully next week will be a better one

Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn

I hope you're all having a great Easter weekend. I'm now relaxing at home after being out both Friday and Saturday night. Unless we go on a holiday abroad, it's not very often that my boyfriend and I stay in hotels so for an anniversary treat we booked through secret hotels on Lastminute.com and were lucky enough to end up being booked into the Grange, Tower Bridge. It's a very modern hotel within walking distance to the main attractions in the City of London, train stations with links to all major parts of London and an all important local Tesco for bottles of water and midnight snacks. The hotel also boasts a spa area with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam which we sampled and now my skin feels softer than it has in ages. There are also beauty treatments available such as massages, facials and pedicures. I loved our room with it's comfy bed and very modern bathroom.

The lift was also quite unusual with glass doors and windows so you could see through both sides. (No re-enacting any scenes from 50 shades in this lift for those who are that way inclined!)

We stayed there on saturday night and unfortunately, the weather was in typical British bank holiday fashion, cold, windy and slightly rainy so my outfit options were limited. Topshop have some great basics at the moment, including this egg yolk yellow cropped sleeve high neck top which I also have in khaki and white. I wore it with a denim skirt from Miss Selfridge, loafers from Linzi and accessorised with some jewellery that I've had for a few years now. That evening we went for dinner at Haz which is the best Turkish restaurant I've ever been to so I'd definitely recommend it. This weekends' dining out has left little room for Easter eggs but I did nibble on a Lindt bunny yesterday!

Mr and Mrs Smith

Yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of mine and my boyfriend's relationship so we've been celebrating it this weekend. (well, as much as a person who still isn't back to full health and can't drink alcohol can celebrate!) Life currently revolves around food so we booked a table at Smith's in Wapping which is a classy fish restaurant with views of Tower Bridge. They gave us a lovely, cosy table in the corner and despite the rubbish weather we had a really nice evening

Regular readers of my blog will know that khaki is my favourite colour and I can't get enough of it at the moment! I wore a pleated skirt dress from asos (£40) over a ribbed top from Topshop (£14) and matched my red lipstick to my red loafers from next

We both opted for grilled Atlantic cod which was the tastiest cod we've ever had so we will definitely be returning in the summer

For desert I had creme Brûlée and my other half had treacle pudding which was delicious and reminded us of school dinner puddings (in a good way!)
I would definitely recommend Smith's for a date, family dinner or catch up with friends and I will be going back once the weather improves. They also have a restaurant in Ongar, Essex which I'd like to go to one day
